Some of the best drivers in the industry made their way back to Hammertown, USA for the infamous King of the Hammers last weekend. This week-long event kicked off with the T1 Unlimted Truck and T2 Spec Truck races. Unlike other events, qualifying took place right before racing kicked off, giving teams only 30 minutes to make sure the trucks were race-ready.
Two-time KOH champion, Bryce Menzies qualified first with a time of 24:17.9. Bryce led the pack off the start line but was taken out of the race with a suspension issue on the first lap.
Brothers JP Gomez and Raul Gomez, both ran clean races in their #18 and #90 trucks. JP came across the line in 4th and Raul in 5th. Raul also competed in the Ultra 4 race in his Dougans-powered 4400 and won! Big congrats to the Gomez Brothers team on a great week of racing!
Eric Hardin qualified 9th, charged through what seemed to be the dustiest KOH to date and finished 7th!
Sara Price stepped in for Robert Johnston, driving the truck for the first time ever in qualifying. She said, “First time in a Big Block and boy did we have fun! We went fast and I was super happy with my pace and comfort never driving this truck before.” Sara locked in 8th place for the day.
Tracy Graf had a flat during qualifying, putting him in 36th off the line. He faced a few other hold ups during his race but still finished in the top ten with a 9th place.
Greg Adler, in the #65 DRW truck wrapped up the top ten with a 10th place finish in the T1 class.
